I am interested in the ”temporary architecture” seen in cities, often on building sites, where available materials have been used to create solutions for immediate, yet momentary needs.

The properties of the materials I have used have had an effect on the sculptures on display. In addition to materials gathered from the streets and trash pallets, I have used various natural materials, including living plants. Their ability to adjust to varied conditions and to make use of even the smallest living spaces is something I have wanted to imitate in my sculptures.

In the exhibition Hall of Mirrors, Suzanna Asp presents a number of works referring to the trick mirror houses of today’s amusement parks as well as to the halls of mirrors that were used for important social events in the palaces and castles of 17th and 18th century Europe.

The exhibition can be seen as a sequel to the exhibition SCENES (in Gallery FAFA, Helsinki, in September 2007) in which the gallery premises became a stage, and the works served as the scenes and the properties.

The exhibition consists of paintings and scupltures.
