The Program

Rain of Down (Untuvasade) is an international exhibition focusing on video performances. It demonstrates the more quiet and intimate side of performance art which has rarely been experienced at performance events or festivals. Here you can relax on the couch and take your time watching performances. We have compiled the exhibition of performances presented for camera, and we enliven the whole with a couple of live performances, both in Galleria Huuto and in the city. Photographs by Swedish Gustaf Broms, portraying his performances in the city area, are also on display.

With this exhibition, we take part in the ongoing discussion of performance art and the relationship between physical presence and how to portray it. We present those areas of performance art that are left between a live performance and its recording, or areas where these two join each other. We ask: “When is a work a video, and when is it a performance?” Artist by artist, the exhibition discusses the borderlines of a video work, a video performance, and a live performance. In order to present our own approaches, both of us will have one work in the exhibition.

Timantti = Diamond

Idea = idea
